As I write this, I write this not only to every person who will ever read this, but I write this as a reminder to myself…
God is in the process, not just the destination.
It is easy to be filled with so many desires that we grow discontent with the place God has us. It is easy to daydream of “better days”, when in reality, every day that has been given to us is a day the Lord has made.
It is okay to have hopes, dreams, and desires, but today, you are where you are. Instead of wishing you were somewhere else, fall in love with where you are and the process it takes to get there.
For me, I would love to write while travelling the world, but today God has me as a full-time teacher and writing these blog posts in whatever spare time I have.
I would love to teach the Word of God to women everywhere, but my opportunities to speak to women have come few and far between. My days are filled with more opportunities to have side conversations about the Lord with rowdy teens while trying to teach them Geometry than they are filled with teaching the Word to women.
I would love to have a husband and be starting a family, but today God has me single.
I would love to be debt-free, but right now I’m just trying to be diligent in paying Sallie Mae her monthly payment and extra whenever I can.
I would love to do photography and videography and even create YouTube videos to encourage women to pursue Christ, but I don’t even own a camera yet. All I have right now is this blog and these words to encourage you.
You see, we all would love to do something, go somewhere, be something else…
But where would we be, if we could just make all of those things happen? If we never had to pray, fast, or seek the Lord regarding the many hopes, dreams, and desires in our hearts? Where would we be if we never had to wait on the Lord? And where would we be if we never had to put in the hard work to obtain those desires?
We all would love to do something, go somewhere, be something else. And Our Father knows that. Many of those hopes, dreams, and desires, He placed within us.
But Our Father also knows if, when, and how to give those desires to us. He knows every intricate detail – every hardship, setback, late night, and tear – that it is going to take to get you there.
He knows if you need to develop in some things before He can give you those desires. He knows that you need to learn to pray harder, fast longer, manage your money better, not give up every time you hear a “No”, or develop in the Fruits of the Spirit. He knows that you need to understand that He is Lord of all things – not just some things – that He is your protector and your provider. He needs you to know that some things you just can’t do on your own – and you need Him to open doors you never even imagined would open.
You see, Our Father knows best. And He knows that He needs to take you through a process – as messy and as hard as the process may be sometimes.
Because our God is in the process, not just the destination.
